The Amateur Rising Star events have now come to an end. It has been a joy to spectate the dancers from IDSF, IDSA, IDU, the WDC Amateur League do what the want to do and compete in a truly open event. It is the magic of Blackpool which brings together so many great dancers from so many countries. This is what has made Blackpool the Mecca, the Holy Grail for dancers, the greatest championship in the world.

No matter to whom one speaks at Blackpool they tell you that this what they want. The freedom to dance when and where they wish, take coaching from whom they wish, work and adjudicate where they wish.

Those driven by lust for power, jealousy, insecurity, inadequacy, intent on destruction should learn from the bruising defeat they have suffered. If they take pleasure from having damaged the careers of those whose interests they should be protecting it is proof of how warped their thinking has become.

Let us hope that lessons have been learned from foolish mistakes. Let us hope that finally Presidiums will listen to the voices of those Amateur dancers denied freedom of choice. Let us hope that we never again witness actions which are designed to damage dancesport and dancers.

If this does happen Blackpool 2010 will not ony be remembered as the event where quality counted more than quantity but also the event which restored sanity to what is madness.
